About RAC

The Railway Association of Canada (RAC) represents close to 60 freight and passenger railway companies that move $350 billion worth of goods and tens of millions of people in Canada each year. Celebrating 100 years as the voice of Canada’s railway industry, RAC advocates on behalf of its members and associate members to ensure that the rail sector remains globally competitive, sustainable, and most importantly, safe.

RAC is proud to have tourist, passenger, commuter, short line and regional railways, and Class 1 freight railways among its members. In total, members operate approximately 60,000 km of main line track (RAC: Rail Trends 2017), including operating rights. The RAC’s website highlights Canadian railways’ role in safely and efficiently moving people, goods and the economy now and into the future www.railcan.ca .

The Railway Association of Canada (RAC) is committed to building a common approach to the prevention and resolution of issues that may arise when people live and work in close proximity to railway operations.
